Remember these rules before you drill, Check for sockets and switches (the socket this was supplying was under the worktop so not obvious at first glance) Then the rules every electrician has to follow when installing electrical switches/sockets are to run the cable either straight above, below to the left and the right, always in a straight line never diagonal, so imagine the socket is in the middle of a cross and the cables that supply that socket/switch could be anywhere where the cross lies.
